From the Final Four to two

March 29, 2003

Alright, I'm officially cutting down the ladies number from four to two. The one time chat is off the buddy list and the one-sided conversation girl is gone, she was too young anyway. I'm 24. I don't need someone who is still in college, its just not my thing.

So I had a very long, like 3 hour chat with one of the ladies last night and I really think we're compatable. Hopefully we can move to some phone conversations and then onto actually meeting. I think with the whole online dating thing you need to get the meeting out of the way as soon as possible, because otherwise if you wait too long, you might be disappointed. I don't know. I vibe well with this girl, so we'll see how it goes.

The other one I'm not sure about. We send each other random e-mails a few times a week and still haven't had a chance to have a conversation longer than 20 minutes or so on AIM, so we'll see with that one too. My subscription to send e-mails for both services is just about up and I'm not re-upping for another month, its too expensive. I'll play it by ear with the two I have now.

Other than that its the weekend again and no definite plans. Hung out with Seth a little earlier and he'll probably come back over later tonight, if I'm no passed out. I was up late talking with that girl until something like 1 AM, so I am kind of tired. Again, we'll see. Thats all for now, so piss off.

Four girls

March 26, 2003

OK, so the official numbers of lucky ladies I'm chatting with now is four, 2 from Jdate.com and 2 from Match.com.

They're all cool, so far, although one was only thrown into the mix today, and we only chatted for like ten minutes, but it was a good little chat.

One of them I've only talked to like twice, and the conversations have been pretty one sided, which I don't like. Its me saying things and her going "yeah" and "hehe" and "lol :-)" But we'll see, some people are just easily distracted.

Another one I chat with every two days or so, but our chats are always cut short by her going somewhere just when we're really getting into a conversation. Total bummer, but I'm a patient man.

And the last one I have the best feeling about. We've only chatted online twice, but for like a really long time, two hours or more both time and they were both great conversations. So we'll see what happens.

I figure the more the merrier, because a prospect in the online dating world can dry up quickly. Plus, I only paid for like a month of each service, so I need to get the e-mails out before the first few days of April. I got about a week left, but I think I e-mailed everyone I can so far. Hopefully more people will sign up.

Anyway, the Rangers are on and trying to make the playoffs. I don't really think it'll happen, but its worth rooting for. Let's Go Rangers!

Don't make me laugh

March 25, 2003

Damn I'm been lazy about updating this thing. But you know the old saying, time flies when you're doing absolutely nothing. Although thats not entirely true. I studied for and successfully passed another fun-filled Microsoft test last Thursday. So that's two down and two to go before I earn my MCSA, or Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator credential, and two down, a whopping five to go before I get my MCSE, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. And what does that all mean in plain English? It means I could demand more of a salary if actual companies were hiring at the moment. Unfortunately they're not.

So, on the personal front, its officially done with the idiot girl. She wouldn't stop bugging me. Last Monday I blocked her from my IM lists only to have her call me and ask me why I blocked her. Little miss retard couldn't get the simple point of, "I don't want to talk to you!" Then she had the nerve to say a lot of guys can't handle her because she's just too sophisticated. I nearly laughed my balls off at that one.

At the moment I'm chatting occasionally with three other girls, so the odds are that one of them has to work out to the point of actually going on a date. We'll see. Like I said, I'm in no rush at the moment.

I also helped out my brother's friend Jason build a PC over the weekend and it was a lot more interesting than I thought it would be. I have a hankering to build my own now. I just need about $1800 to do it, and I have a credit card bill nearly double that to pay off first. But we'll see what happens.

So now I'm all caught up, I think. And if I'm not, fuck it, no one's perfect.

Stupid girls (plural)

March 15, 2003

It's the weekend again, and once again I have no definite plans. I'll probably be hanging out with Seth tonight since he's out on the island for his temple's Purim carnival tomorrow. I don't think I'll be hanging out with that girl anytime soon, but thats ok. I don't think it would've worked out between us anyway. Although I didn't have the heart to tell her, she's not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer if you know what I mean. I'm not saying I'm a genius or anything, but I need a girl that I can talk to and have intelligent and thought provoking discussions with. And, to top it off, the girl had no idea what an iPod was. That stung.

Anyway, time to move on and find someone new. I've been looking through Match.com and Jdate.com, a site for Jewish singles and we'll see what I can find. I'm in no rush to find someone new, although I would like to. I miss the companionship that comes with a girlfriend, but not my ex-girlfriend, not at all.

On that front, she called me Monday to tell me that her dog, the dog we used to own together that she took with her, was sick. She had some kind of allergic reaction to something and ballooned up. I was concerned and all, my biggest fear when she took the dog was that she wouldn't be able to take care of it. After all, of the six or so months we spent living in NY, she did like absolutely nothing to take care of either of her dogs. So taking care of one dog 100% of the time seemed to me like it would challenge her. Anyway, I was concerned and asked if the dog was ok, and if it was getting better and made sure she got it treated (she works at a Vet hospital after all and brings the dog to work with her).

So I hang up with her and then Tuesday morning I get an e-mail from her saying that talking to me on the phone was like talking to a stranger and that I couldn't have acted like I cared less. Whatever she thinks. She said she'd stop talking to me. We'll see how long that one lasts for. I'm guessing another week or so. I just want the girl to send me back my college diploma that I left at her mom's house to get framed and my housekey she took with her when she left. I now have the feeling I'll get neither back, and will have to replace them on my own.

It's $15 for a replacement diploma and a duplicate key is around $15-20 as well (its a special key for a supposedly pick proof lock). I'll add that up along with the $350 I had to pay for her final cell phone bills and cancellation (since the contract was in my name because she had crappy credit) and the $350 Macy's bill she ran up for Christmas presents for her family that she said she's pay me back for. I know I'll never see a dime from her regarding any of these outstanding debts. And honestly, paying the bills and being done with them is worth it to avoid any further frustration regarding her. Women are a pain in the ass, especially when they cost you a lot of money. I guess I should get used to it, marriage and all that crap is expensive. Better buy myself the things I want now, because there will soon come a time that I can't spend a dime on myself.

OK, end of my rant.

iBook idiocy

March 12, 2003

Wow, I've been lazy about updating this thing. I apologize to the maybe one person who ever stumbled onto this thing and read it once and laughed at me.

So what's been going on with me? Nothing much. Been talking to a girl I met through an online dating site. Hopefulyl we'll actually hang out soon. Its a little weird talking to someone new after dating the same person for four years, and living with them and seeing them everyday for a year and a half of that. But it feels new and exciting and we'll see where it goes. Hopefully someplace good.

I had a stupid thing go on with my iBook the other day and this will comprise my dumb story for the day. There is a little screw and latch inbetween the f5 and f6 key that keeps the keyboard down, otherwise it would just bulge up in the middle and make it a pain in the ass to type. A few months ago the thing that houses the screw and latch cracked in half and came apart. So, after a half hour of playing with a pair of tweezers and a tiny screw driver I got the thing back together with the help of some crazy glue. Everything was fine for about two months. Then it started cracking again, damn crazy glue wouldn't hold. I dropped a dab of glue back in there to seal the crack, but all I did was seal the screw in there so I couldn't turn it and secure the keyboard.

Since I live somewhat close to an Apple Store (Roosevelt Field, the store kicks ass) I figured they could fix it for me, and if I had to buy a new keyboard I would, because it was my own dumbass fault it broke like that. So I go and the guy says no problem, they'll have to replace the keyboard. Unfortunately the machine isn't under warranty anymore (Apple gives you like 90 days of free tech support and a 1 year warranty when you buy a new mac and I got my iBook in July of 2001), so I'll have to pay $70 for a new keyboard. Not too bad. After five minutes of playing with all the wonderful toys in there the Mac Genius that was fixing my iBook comes over to me and says for some reason unknown to him the machine is still under warranty. Don't ask me how, I didn't question it, I just took it for what it was worth, a free keyboard. So, long story short, I know am typing on a brand new keyboard and it feels good. And yes I'm a computer geek. And, I want a 1 ghz iMac really really badly.

More snow

March 8, 2003

Not sure what my plans for this weekend are. Probably the usual. I need to go buy some clothes, like jeans, pants and some shirts and ties for work. Other than that, I'm sure I'll find my way over to Best Buy, I always seem to on a Saturday morning, at least for the past two or three weeks I have. I figure a DVD a week is a nice reward after a hard day's work.

Other than that, nothing new going on. Didn't got to see the lacrosse game because it snowed on Thursday, yet again. Something like 6 inches, which after a blizzard drops 18 inches, its nothing. I'm sure Seth and I will reschedule the Saints for another time. I'm sure I'll find some way to pass the weekend, I always seem to.

Queens is fun!

March 5, 2003

So, had a busy and long day at work, which is good and bad. Good because the more hours I bill the more money I make, and I need the cash money, bad. It's bad because I was in Queens today and driving there and back took almost three and a half hours out of my day. I used to commute 90 miles to work when I lived in New Orleans, and I don't like my car that much.

On the bright side I have the day off tomorrow. Not sure what I'm going to do. I think I'm going to see the New York Saints lacrosse team tomorrow night with Seth. We try to catch a game every year or so. We're not huge fans of lacrosse, we just like to see guys with giant sticks hitting each other with them and knocking them into the boards and floor hockey style. We'll see how it goes. I don't think we've ever been to a game where the Saints won. Maybe this time.

Other than that, nothing new to report. When there is, every no one out there will hear about it. Good night!

Thai food and friends

March 2, 2003

Had a good time last night going out to dinner and a few beers with my friends. It's been a couple of months since all three of us hung out together and it was a lot fun. We grabbed some Thai food which was pretty good. Never really had Thai before and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We then hopped over to a local microbrewery/restaurant/bar and had a few beers. I got a little buzzed after downing two 22 oz beers in about an hour, but thats bound to happen. It was a good time had by all and hopefully we'll be able to do it more in the future.

Since its cold and raining here I'm pretty much trapped inside, since I'm such an outdoorsman as it is. Hopefully my older brother and I will go catch "Old School" at the theaters. It looks like stupid fun, and I loved Will Ferrell on SNL, so hopefully we'll go and it'll be good. Nothing else new to report unfortunately.
