Memorial Day Musings
May 27, 2003
So Memorial Day Weekend pretty much sucked ass, but thats OK. Its this upcoming weekend in Lake George with Elena and my family that really counts. Hopefully that will be amazing. So why did Memorial Day Weekend blow so hard? Very simple.
One, it rained like all fucking weekend long. It was ridiculuous. I heard it was supposed to be nice on Monday so at least we could enjoy the weather, eat outside, BBQ, all that fun stuff. But no. The weather on Monday was the worst. Pouring rain all day long. The dog hated it. He refused to poop all day, until the late afternoon, which is so unlike him. Despite the weather the get together at my house was fun. Seth came, as did Brett and his new girlfriend, who was really really nice by the way. I'm happy for him. The only crappy thing was that Elena couldn't make it. The reason why is reason two.
Two, Elena's grandfather died Friday night. So she had to spend most of Sunday and Monday at the wake. The funeral's today, and I'm about to head out the door for it. Trying to be a good boyfriend, even though I hate funerals, especially one's where there is a viewing of the body. Those are the worst. I hate looking at dead bodies. I wasn't even going to go today, but Elena asked me to be there, so I'm there, plain and simple. I think she's taking it a little harder than she thought she would, so I'll be the shoulder to cry on if she needs it. Its a big shoulder after all. And now the third and final reason the weekend was bad.
Three, My ex-girlfriend could not respect my wishes to not contact me and had to e-mail me the most juvenile, no class e-mail in the world Saturday night in response to my very nice, don't talk to me anymore, e-mail. And of course I couldn't let it go. I know I should have, every one told me to, but I had to shoot back. Then she shot back, so I shot back again, then she shot back, so I shot back one final time and said reply if you want, I'm just going to configure all my e-mail programs to immediately delete anything she sends me, and block her from my hotmail. So even if she does e-mail me, I'll never see it. Hopefully that does the trick, because I'm sick of that shit. She's all upset because I won't let her know how the dog is. Meanwhile, the dog has been, is, and will continue to be just fine, like I've said a billion time. End of story.
Getting close to leaving for funeral time. Not too psyched about it, but then again, who is. So, here's to hoping that this weekend will be better than the one that just passed, despite the fact that its with my family. Although it is a nice long weekend at a nice resort with my girlfriend. You fill in the rest. I'm out.

Weekly recap
May 22, 2003
Wow, so its been like a week since I wrote in this thing. I have an excuse though. I've been busy as hell. Let's see, a recap of the week thus far.
Saturday - Went shopping at like 10 AM with Elena. I was under the impression that it would be just to return a few items that her cousin bought her at Old Navy and then off to try to find me some shoes (I've been looking for some new shoes and sneakers for a few weeks now with no luck. Its hard when you have a size 15 foot in sneakers). But I was wrong. She was doing shopping for her summer wardrobe, and I hate to shop. I like to get in and get out. But it was OK, because I got to spend time with Elena, which is always a good thing. Then we went shoe shopping, to Genovese and onto the Walt Whitman mall so I could check out the Apple store there and get new headphones and remote for my iPod, the pair that came with it were starting to freak out. Then we went back to her house, ordered a pizza for lunch, went back to my house to chill out. Watched "Me, Myself & Irene" on DVD and that was a night.
Sunday - Did some more shopping with Elena. She wanted to go to Best Buy and get something so she could listen to music while she exercises in the morning, so she got a CD player with an FM radio built in, kind of cool, no iPod, but thats ok =). Then we headed over to my mall to pick some things up for our trip next week. No comment on what that was. Then we headed back to my house for some good dinner, watched some of a Jean Luc Godard film she rented from Netflix for me, watched Six Feet Under and that was about it.
Monday - Worked my ass off, 4 hours in the morning at a client, a little break for lunch and whatnot, then another 3.5 - 4 at like 4:15 until almost 8 at another, which just so happened to be my bosses brother-in-law. Guy was a pain in the ass. I understand why my boss wanted me to go and not him, if I were him I wouldn't like my brother-in-law either.
Tuesday - Worked my ass off again, 7 hours setting up a computer system at a high scale, rich women hair salon and day spa. Lots, and I mean lots of eye candy to be had. It made the exhausting work of setting up computers and a server much more bearable. Then, after finally getting some lunch, at like 6 PM, Elena came over and we watched American Idol and the Smallville finale. Then we went to sleep until like midnight when she woke up and realized she needed to go home.
Wednesday - Sorta worked my ass off, but more like went all overr the place. Went to a client for a quick thing in the morning, then had time to kill before my next client so I went to Roosevelt Field. Found a Skechers store and actually found two pairs of shoes that fit me OK, so I picked them up. Checked out the Apple Store, of course, then headed onto my client. Couldn't really do much because the machine was Windows ME and was in pretty bad shape. Recommended upgrade or replacement. Then had to make a third stop at an eccentric old ladies business in what must be an apartment complex for seniors. Not bad, for the second time that day I'm seen as a savior, and it feels good when people appreciate what you do for them, even though they have to pay for it. Then, when the working day was over I headed to Elena's where we got some dinner at TGIFridays and watched the American Idol finale, then took a nap. Woke up at midnight, had to go home.
That brings us to today. Gotta go weigh myself like I do every Thursday at my mom's office. I hope I lost some more weight. Not expecting the 9.5 pound drop I had last week, but we'll see. Then I'm going to Elena's restaurant to get some lunch with her and meet her coworkers, who can't wait to meet me. I guess she talks about me a lot, which is a good thing, because I talk about her a lot too.
Other than that nothing new to report. My ex sent me an e-mail on Sunday asking for help again, and asking how Keyser was. Elena and I crafted a response that I thought was direct and to the point asking her not to contact me again, we'll see if that holds up. I read what I wrote to Seth and he said I was direct and to the point, stern, but not an asshole. I'm sure she'll think different. But fuck her, fuck her in her stupid fat ass. I don't care what she thinks. I just want her to stop bugging me.
One more week and its off to Lake George with the family and Elena. I can't wait! Peace out.

The Matrix Reloaded
May 16, 2003
Holy shit! "The Matrix Reloaded" was fucking insane. Insane I tell you! I can't count how many times I must've uttered the words, "Holy shit", "Oh my God!", "Fuck" or just "How the fuck did they do that!" or just "That's insane, fucking insane!" The movie kicked ass. Now, there is a lot to wrap my head around. So much so that I still can't think straight. Lets just say everything that you thought was true about Neo and his place in the grand scheme of things, is going to get turned around, upsidedown and fucked with completely. I really need to see it again, and I probably will on Saturday night with Elena, her sister, her sister's fiance and her other sister and her friend.
The action was just fucking insane, there really is no other word to desribe it. Forget "bullet time", while that was really, really, really cool in 1999, its been copied and parodied so many times since then, its become moot. But they incorporate it in the sequel too, but you don't even notice it, because there's too much other shit on the screen that is even more jaw dropping, if you can believe it. Lets see, there's Neo's fight with 25+ Agent Smith's, which I totally marvelled at. There was the whole freeway sequence, which was awesome, the end was also good, with Neo flying at top speed to save Trinity.
I can't describe it, it was just good, no, not good, fucking great! I really like where the story is going and can't wait for the next one in November.
In the meantime its been the same old for me. Went with Elena to see the movie last night and she loved it as well. I can't tell you how much I love the fact that I have a girlfriend that is as into movies as I am, and if not moreso in certain respects. She was almost as vocal as I was about all the stuff that was happening onscreen.
I really can't wait to go away with her at the end of the month. We're going to have the best time, five days and four night together, with our own bedroom and privacy. Enough said.
Other than that my ex-girlfriend had to ruin the month of May for me by trying to contact me. She called my cell phone and left a message about a computer question she had. Sorry, I'm not your fucking tech support line. Call someone else. And stop worrying about my dog, which isn't yours anymore. He's fine. I took care of him for 7 months while you sat on your ass getting fatter, I know what I'm doing.
OK, end of rant, adios.

Mother's Day
May 12, 2003
So its been a few days, a few busy days, so I have an excuse. Things are going pretty well, and they can only get better if a few things, actually one big thing goes my way in the near future.
Basically, I interviewed for a job at HIP health care back at the end of January and by far it was the strongest interview I went on in the seven or so months I was searching for a job. With the way the series of interviews ended I thought I had it wrapped up, but it turns out there really wasn't any open positions, but they were just interviewing people for any potential openings they would have in the near future. Also, a friend of mine from high school's father is a big executive over there, so he kind of hooked me up with a lot of it. And he called yesterday and when I called him back today he said that a lot of people in the IT department were recently promoted so they should have openings. He ran into one of the higer ups in the IT dept. the other day and asked on the status of my getting a job and the IT guy said, "Close." So I'll take that as a very good sign. They look like an awesome company to work for, so wish me luck, I really need a real job, and not something part time.
Other than that I've been hanging out with Elena a lot. I guess subconsiencely we both know that she's going away once the summer is over so we're trying to get as much of each other as we can, which is fine by me. I went into the city to see Pete York Friday night, so she stopped by for a little bit Friday afternoon and gave me a ride to the train station. Then Saturday she came over and we watched "The Matrix" in preparation for the sequel on Thursday. Then we went to dinner with my parents, brother and cousin, went back to her house for awhile, stopped by Seth's temple so Seth could meet her, then came back to my house where we proceeded to fall asleep together.
Sunday she called me at like 9:15 and asked me if I wanted to go to Mother's Day brunch with her family, so I jumped at the opportunity. Then she came over to my house for dinner and whatnot. Seth and Brett swung by for a little bit so she got to meet all my wacky friends. Then we just hung out for awhile and fell asleep until we woke up at like 2:20 AM or so and I had to take her home.
Then today I just got back from her house. She was dogsitting her sister's pooch so we watched "Demolition Man" which for some reason she's been wanting to see for awhile. Whatever, it was a good flick, even though I fell asleep at the end. She's out getting a massage at the moment and then she's coming over once its done to hang out. We'll probably watch a movie, most likely "Blazing Saddles" because she's never seen it and its funny as hell.
That's enough for now. I'm all caught up.

Beek on the Creek
May 7, 2003
Alright, so what, its Wednesday, hump day right? Nothing new really happening with me, worked for a few hours today, which was nice. Cash in the pockets is always a good thing, you know? Then it'll be a night of watching Dawson's Creek and Angel before talking to Elena for a few minutes before bedtime.
Nothing on tap for tomorrow, but Friday night I'm meeting Seth in the city and we're going to see Pete Yorn at the Hammerstein Ballroom. It should be fun, I like his music enough to enjoy an evening of it. The only sucky thing is Friday is usually Elena's night off, and she usually works Saturday nights. I asked if she could switch her shift around so we could hang out on Saturday. And it is her sister's birthday on Sunday (The same day as my mom's no less, May 11, and yes I was a good boy and got her Mother's Day and birthday presents), so she's trying to get out.
Saturday morning I have to pick up my cousin Lauren at LaGuardia. She's flying in for the weekend, for Mother's Day and whatnot. She goes to school in DC and her mom is coming over Sunday for dinner, so that should be fun.
Thats about it. Hung out with Elena and watched "Trapped" and "Igby Goes Down". She subscribes to Netflix and she's had those two in her possession for a few weeks. I asked her what was taking her so long to watch them and she said, "This cute boy I've been hanging out with a lot!" Very cute, so I asked if I should get jealous, she said no, so I think I'm good. =)
I've been tempted to sign up for Netflix, but at the moment I'm really trying to pay down my credit card somewhat, so having $20 a month automatically charged to it just isn't going to help me out. The service looks cool, just really need to save the cash at the moment, ya dig?
Alright, enough for now. Peace.
Current music - Pearl Jam "Corduroy" (Live from Nassau Coliseum 4/30/03)
PS - Yes, I got my Pearl Jam bootleg from last week in the mail today, and I"m very psyched to have gotten it with the 7 of the 7-10 days they promise it in. Now I'm just waiting for Elena's copy to get here to I can give it to her, because she was asking about it last night!
Chock full of X
May 5, 2003
Wow, so its been a few days since I've written something. I was going to post something Thursday night, but I fell asleep with the web page open and nothing written. Oh well, shit happens.
So whats been up with me the past few days? Nothing new really, same old same old. Been hanging out with Elena whenever I get the chance to. We went to a suprise birthday party for her cousin on Saturday night, but left early because I had to come home and take care of Keyser since my parents were in NYC seeing a Broadway show and my brother was out with his new lady friend. So we just came back to my hosue, watched X-Men on DVD, in preparation for seeing X2 on Sunday.
Then yesterday we went to see X2, which I must say, was pretty fucking awesome. The ending kind of dragged on just a bit, but it was still a fucking fantastic flick. Much longer than the first one at like 2:15, and a lot more action, more characters, more depth given to existing ones, funny, action packed and highly satisfying. Now its less than two weeks until The Matrix Reloaded, which I can't wait for!
And lets see, today I worked for less than an hour in the morning and then went over to Elena's house. She's sick so I was playing the part of the good boyfriend and trying to take care of her. I brought her some cough drops, took her temperature and was just generally trying to be helpful, and a teddy bear for a nap. =) I hope she gets better soon, one, because she doesn't seem to handle being sick too well, and two, no one wants to be sick, especially for a prolonged amount of time.
Thats it for now. Peace out, adios and all that.

Pearl Jam ROCKS!!
May 1, 2003
The phrase, "Holy Shit!" doesn't even begin to describe the Pearl Jam concert last night. They kicked some serious ass, I mean serious ass. I knew it was going to be amazing when Rearviewmirror was the second song in. I totally lost it right there, along with my voice from screaming and singing at the top of my lungs. The set list was perfect, lots of good tunes off the new one, Riot Act, along with some great classics from Ten, Vs. and Vitology. They were kind of light on the No Code, Yield and there was absolutely no Binaural. Lots of B-sides and rarities and whatnot, like Long Road, Last Kiss, Crazy Mary and Down. Good stuff all around. For their second encore they played Bushleaguer which enabled Eddie to preach his politics amidst some boos and whatnot. Then Know Your Rights by the Clash and then into Rocking in the Free World, which kicked ass. Knew they were going to play that considering the political themes of the last two songs.
The best part of the evening, besides the amazing songs that Pearl Jam played was that Elena went with me. It really does make a concert better when you go with someone that you really want to go with, someone that you really care about. It was great. There was a bunch of slow songs during the first encore so I was hugging her from behind and just rocking back and forth slowly to the beat. It was just amazing. And, she really liked the show too. I knew she wasn't a big Pearl Jam fan going in and being that she's a singer and performer as well she's really serious about it all. But, she said that they gave a great performance and that she could tell that each band member was really into it in their own way, which was true.
Also, the Ten Club tickets were great. They weren't on the floor, which was actually ok with me. We were in the 100's, maybe 10 rows back or so, at a 45 degree angle to the stage on Mike McCready's side. Great view, best seats I've had for a concert in a long time.
Great show, great band, great girl, what more can you ask for?
