Getting Worse

October 29, 2004

Yup, and it fucking sucks even more than yesterday. The ability to breathe through my nose comes and goes, but its mostly gone. The only reason I was even able to sleep last night was because of Afrin, but I know that stuff isn't exactly the safet to use on a continual basis. I'll just use it to breath at night so I can get some sleep. Other than that I have my Zithromax which should start battling this infection anyday now. I'm anxiously awaiting it. Have I mentioned how much of a pain in the ass I am when I get sick? I just turn into a miserable bastard who feels so bad that I feel the need to make all around me suffer. So far Elena put up with it quite well last night, since all I did was basically eat dinner and then pass out.

We were supposed to go see her cousin's husband sing with some band tonight, but those plans got nixed for multiple reasons. One, her cousin is getting to the club at 4 PM, while I'll still be at work. I don't get out until 5 and home until 6 and this place is probably 45 minutes away from house in the middle of nowhere, so it just wasn't doable. We'll probably go to their apartment for dinner this Sunday, but thats about the only concrete plans I have this weekend. I don't count the fact that my car needs an oil change and I need a haircut.

Oh, and I found what my next car is going to be. One way or another I'll find a way to afford it. I'm going to follow suit with my dad, brother and aunt and get an Audi A4. The selling point for me is two-fold. One, they have it in an awesome shade of red, called Brilliant Red. I've always wanted a red car and its just never worked out like that yet. This time it will. Two, you can, as an option, get it with Sirius Satellite Radio built-in, something that will be a must have once Howard Stern moves to it in 2006, which, coincidentally will probably be when I can afford to get rid of my car and purchase a new one. So it'll all work out in the end. I'm determined, although I have like 17 payments left to make on mine, to double or triple up on them so thats its paid off before April 2006, because I doubt it'll last that long.

So that's where I'm at. Its 3:30 and I'm starving. Damn diet.

Getting Sick

October 28, 2004

And I fucking hate it. I know, I don't usually use profanities in my little webspace here. I use them plenty in my day to day life, but this is justified. If there is one thing I hate more in this world than the fact that the Red Sox just won the World Series and broke the Curse, is that I'm starting to feel under the weather. It started Tuesday night/Wednesday morning when I couldn't sleep and woke up with a sore throat. That was all of yesterday and I still have it now despite the cough medicine I've been taking, which reminds me, its time for a dose. Now, its progressed into what I can tell will be some serious sinus congestion. I can feel it coming on now, complete with a sinus headache from all the pressure thats building up behind my nose. Thankfully my mom works for a doctor, my doctor, and I can get a free round of Zithromax quicker than you can figure out how to spell it. Hopefully that'll do the trick because I hate getting sick!

I'm supposed to hang out with Elena tonight. We don't have anything big planned, but I haven't seen her since I left for work Monday morning (yes, she sleeps at my house most weekends since we barely see each other during the week and my parents are cool with it. Hell, my ex lived with us for months before she thankfully split) and I'm dying to see her, but I don't want to get her sick, and I know she doesn't want to get sick, so that'll limit physical contact which we all know is just not fun and wrong to boot.

I just hope with all the medicine thats at my disposal I'll be able to kick it, and quickly. Sick is not fun dammit! Alright, I'm off to lunch, which actually consists of just drinking my damn shake as I'm back on the diet and trying to stick to it. Maybe thats another reason for my foul mood. Who knows. Alright, I'm out. Lets hope I feel better next time I'm this way.

Now that's an interesting dream

October 26, 2004

OK, you know you're a geek when you have a sort of nightmare about blogging. I know, its as pathetic as it sounds. I think it went something like this. I was posting my usual stuff and at the end added something about my sex life at the end. The bad part started when I hit post and noticed a message saying it was about to notify certain people that a new post was added, Elena's address being one of them. At that point I panicked big time and tried desperately to find a way to recall it to no avail. Thankfully I woke up and realized that it was all a dream, but damn it freaked me out big time.

In other news there isn't much going on. Seth was a little disappointed that we called off the Dublin trip, but he'll get over it, I hope. I could really use the cash I would spend on the travel and hotel to pay off my credit cards, instead of running them back up, and to pay off my car quicker so I can get rid of it as soon as I possibly can. Elena said we need to start saving our money instead of wasting it and I've been meaning to talk to her further about that. My birthday is coming up at the end of November and I can't think of anything I want, and honestly I don't want her to go crazy spending money on me, as well as for the holidays, so hopefully we can make some kind of deal to not spend a lot on each other and save it for the future.

Alright, back to watching Arrested Development, then some Scrubs tonight, and maybe checking in with the World Series to make sure Boston gets spanked like they deserve. Night all.

Recent Developments

October 25, 2004

So its been an interesting couple of days. Here's the lowdown. The interesting week of work concluded with a power outage affecting our two floors in the building at about 3:30 in the afternoon. So after a mad dash to shut down all the servers and hardware there was nothing for my coworker or myself to do so we went home early, which was nice. Went to Elena's house for dinner and we chilled for awhile, finishing off the fifth and final season of Angel on my laptop. Such a good show, too bad it was cancelled just when it was getting really good again.

Saturday involved a lot of running around without getting much accomplished. I took Keyser to the vet to get this new vaccine they want to put him on for some disease called Lepto-somethingorother. Then once I got home I had to go back to the vet because I forgot my credit card there. Then I had to take my brother to the airport as he'll be in Tampa for the week visiting his best friend. After that my dad and I went down to the local GMC/Pontiac dealership that I bought my car at and tried to get rid of the damn thing. Its a shame, because we priced out a 3 year lease with a 20,000 mile annual allowance for only ten dollars more a month than I'm paying now. The only bad part was that the dealership was only willing to offer me $4500 for my car, while I owe about $6900 on my car loan, so no dice on the new car. I'm debating doubling up on my car payments a month if I can afford it, to pay off the damn thing earlier. We'll see on that, as my dad thinks its better to use the money for something else every month. I'll just have to wait and see on that one.

Saturday night Elena and I picked Brett us at his house and headed to Long Beach to Seth's girlfriends for a party. Had a good time at the party, and headed home. Elena and I hung around on Sunday, not doing too much, saw The Grudge, which sucked ass, and then I passed out at about 8:30 last night, which is pretty pathetic.

So in major developments, we're probably not going to Dublin. Elena and I were talking about it and it just seems to be not worth the money. We both just got back from that area and aren't in too much of a rush to go back, and plus its Ireland in December/January, it can't be too nice. I know Seth and his girlfriend were looking forward to it, but I'm sure they'll get over it. Elena said she'd rather go someplace warm and I don't blame her. I kind of want to go back and visit New Orleans or someplace like that. I don't know, who knows what'll happen. I just know that the money I would spend on Dublin would be better used elsewhere.

So thats about it. Just chilling at home with the dog at the moment watching Arrested Development on DVD. Funny ass show, I must say.

Damn Yankees!

October 20, 2004

Damn Red Sox while I'm at it too! These damn baseball playoffs are killing me. The games just won't end because the Yankees can't seem to hold onto their lead long enough to win a game, so I stay up watching them, getting all into it, and then, when they lose, I'm all wired and can't fall asleep. I feel like a zombie today, and thats not a good thing. Hopefully it'll be a slow day without too much craziness going on. Thankfully I don't have to drive home as my car is back in the shop getting the transmission tuned up, again, so I'll ride home with my brother and sleep, like I did on the way in this morning. All I can say is the Yankees better pull it together tonight and win already. I can't take the thought of Boston in the World Series. The only solace I can take would be if Boston does win, that whoever they face beats the crap out of them. That would be good.

So its what, Wednesday already? Hopefully the weekend will be here before you know it, and guess what? I actually have plans for a change! Elena and I are either going to hang out with her cousin on Friday night or go see a movie. She wants to see The Grudge and although I really have no interest in it, I'll go anyway, as it was pointed out to me the other day that, lately, I always seem to pick what we watch. Its true, but I countered it with the fact that I haven't been wrong about our entertainment choices yet. In the past year I've gotten Elena hooked on watching Scrubs, Smallville, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Alias. All quality choices if you ask me. And yes, I have the TV viewing habits of a 15 year old girl, but I don't care. So movie or her cousin on Friday. Saturday we're going to a party at Seth's girlfriends apartment, so that should be a lot of fun. She had a party over the summer and I had a good time, so I'm looking forward to this one.

Elena, Seth, his girlfriend Shari and I also need to sit down and plan out or possible trip to Ireland for New Years! We're most likely going to Dublin to visit Elena's ex-roommate, and Seth said he'd love to tag along if it was ok, and I've been told it is. We just need figure out dates and hotels and all that fun stuff, but hopefully it won't be too bad. Its like $800 rountrip for 2 people and a hotel shouldn't be too expensive once we shop around. Should be a blast! I can't wait!

Alright, back to work. Everyone out there, root for the Yankees tonight! New York thanks you!

Let the fun begin!

October 18, 2004

My week of hell, I mean fun, began at work today. My department has already been short staffed for two months as our help desk girl never came back from her maternity leave and the summer intern we're hiring full time doesn't graduate until December. To make matters worse, one of my coworkers is in Chicago all week at a training seminar, so we're down two people and its just oh so much fun.

Today wasn't so bad, as I spent a good chunk of it trying to fix and restore a corrupted QuickBooks file. Hopefully tomorrow will go much smoother and the week won't be so nuts. One can hope.

In the meantime I'm just relaxing at home while Keyser licks my legs incessantly and I watch the Yankees hopefully finish off the Red Sox tonight. At the moment its 4-2 Yanks, but that could change at any second with these pain in the ass Red Sox.

Lets Go Yankees!

Parent's go Bye Bye!

October 15, 2004

Its that time of the year again, time for the old parental units to wake up at the ass crack of dawn and drive for 6 hours to go visit my little brother up at school for Parent's weekend. That means I'll be without their presence in the house for a little more than 24 hours. Should be peaceful, thats for sure. Now if I can only get rid of my older brother than I can have the house all to myself, or I should say, Elena and I can have the house to ourselves!

Anyway, should be a fun weekend anyway. I know I need it, its been a fun filled week of work, thats for sure. It started out easy enough, and just got progressively worse. Plus, I need to rest up for the week to come. One of my co-workers will be away for training for the whole week, which means the fun of being short staffed again is upon us. I can't wait!

Plans for tonight include dinner and a possible movie, who knows, whatever we're in the mood for. I want to see Team America again, as it was hilarious, I'm just not sure I'm up for a full movie tonight. Who knows, we'll see.

Alright, back to work.

Another Typical Weekend

October 11, 2004

Didn't really do a whole heck of a lot this past weekend, like most weekends past of late. Elena and I went out with her cousins on Friday night to a Japanese/Chinese place that was pretty good. Drank some sake and ate some good food. Afterwards we got some yummy Italian Ices and headed back to her cousins place where we watched a good chunk of the Presidential Debate, then we headed home to my house and proceeded to pass out.

Elena and I hung out for awhile on Saturday before she headed into work. I watched some of the Yankee game on TV before I went to the movies all by lonesome. I caught a sneak preview of Team American: World Police, and holy crap, let me tell you, it was the funniest damn thing I have seen in a long time. Its basically a huge parody of action movies and a satire on the current fight against terrorism and its backlash, but with puppets. Thats the funniest part, because when the puppets fight or have sex, its basically like you were playing with action figures or Barbie and Ken dolls, its basically them just getting mashed together. But the sex was hilarious. I was crying from laughing so hard. I highly recommend it for a good laugh!

Elena came over after work on Saturday night and we just vegged out for most of Sunday. Watched some TV, some football, took a nap, ate dinner... nothing too exciting. Now I'm at work on Columbus Day and the place is dead. Hopefully the commute home should be a breeze as the roads were pretty empty coming in this morning. One can hope.

Tomorrow I'll be in our office in Bridgehampton which is just going to be tons of fun! I can't wait! Alright, one hour left and then I'm out of here. Peace out.

Tired and Bored

October 7, 2004

Its one of those days ar work, the ones that just won't seem to end no matter how hard you try. There isn't much going on and what I have to do I'm procrastinating slightly on. Oh well, there's always tomorrow. It isn't helped by the fact that I'm exhausted. The only decent nights sleep I've gotten this week have been on Monday and Tuesday, and even those haven't been too great.

One reason to blame the lack of good sleep is on Keyser, as he's back to his old tricks of waking up raring to go at sometime between 4 and 5 AM. I walk him before bed time, so he should be able to hold it, I just don't know why he keeps waking up. I know my dad is probably getting up early too, as its close to October 15th, the last deadline to get an extended tax return files, so he's busy. If the dog can't sleep tonight, I think I just may have to kill him.

Reason two that I'm so tired is my own fault, which I'll gladly admit, I've been staying up way too late at night playing X-Box. So sue me. I haven't gotten so into a video game in awhile, but I'm almost done with the one I'm playing, so I'm sure I'll put the X-Box controller down for a good month, until Halo 2 comes out!

I really need to get a good nights sleep tonight as Elena and I have plans with her cousin and her cousin's husband tomorrow night. We always have fun hanging out with them, and I really don't want to be downer by yawning the whole night, or worse, passing out on them. Other than that, there is nothing concrete in my weekend plans. Just probably some hanging out and hopefully no one asking me why my door is locked! =)~

Alright, that effectively killed 10 minutes, only 30 more and then I can head home! Woo hoo... I'd write more, but I'm so tired it would probably come out as an incoherent mess, so I'll spare you that. Adios for now people.

I Need My Own Place

October 5, 2004

I just wish I could afford living on my own. Right now, at the moment, its not exactly feasible. But thats OK. I'm not big on the idea of throwing money away on rent. I'd rather put money I would pay for rent towards like a mortgage for a house, or at the least, a condo. Why the sudden urge to move out? Lets just say its pretty embarrassing when your mom knocks on your door, tries to open it and asks why its locked while your girlfriend is sleeping over. Enough said. It was pretty embarrassing at the time, but nothing was said by my mom this morning, so its all good. It wouldn't be the first time I've had to make up an excuse as to why my door was locked and I wouldn't open it to my parents. And hey, the last time was years ago, and it was in the middle of the afternoon, not 10 at night. Oh well. Life goes on, you live and you learn. She knocked because the dog was whining in his cage in my little brother's room. I knew I should've put him in the cage in my dad's office downstairs where no one can hear him whine. I should've since his whining woke me up at 4:45 anyway. Pain in the ass dog.

Alright, thats enough embarrassing and too much information stories for one day. Have any you'd like to share?

It's Been Awhile

October 4, 2004

Still alive over here, although after the week I had last week, I'm generally amazed that I am. It was one hellish week of work, which I thankfully cut short by taking a half day off on Friday. I used the afternoon off to go home and catch up on sleep, and man, it was great!

So lets see, what else about last week sucked? I already mentioned blowing up Elena's mom's PC, but all is good on that front, thankfully. The other big doozy of the week was that I got into a car accident on Thursday. I was heading to the mall for lunch and accidentally slammed into the car in front of me on the off ramp for the expressway. No damage to my car, go figure, inside the thing is falling apart, but on the outside its built like a tank. Very little damage to the car I hit, a little scratch on the bumper and the tail lights are a little out of place, but still functional. Thankfully no one was hurt, but the two ladies in the car I hit were rubbing their necks by the time we were done exchanging info. We have the same insurance company, so its not in their best interest to go after me with a fradulent lawsuit. Whatever, I'm not going to worry about it. Its done, it happened, I contacted my insurance company immediately, so now I just sit back and wait.

The weekend was good. Elena came over Friday night, we got some dinner and just chilled out, same thing we did on Saturday during the day. She worked Saturday night, and I went out to John Harvard's with Seth, his girlfriend Shari and Brett. I got really drunk, Elena met up with us after she was done working, and then we went home, where we spent all of Sunday just vegging out. Yeah, now that my girlfriend is back in town I lead a real exciting life!

In other big news, Brett, who was supposed to get married in November, isn't anymore. And oh yeah, its going to get ugly between him and his ex-fiance. We're talking lawsuits, unless she gives him her ring back. She skipped town to her parents in Maryland without even leaving a note or anything, called the cops so they would be there when she moved her stuff out in case he came home, and of course, took the ring with her. From everyone I've talked to in my office, since they are lawyers, he's legally entitled to it back, so hopefully he'll get it without having to pay a boat load for litigation.

I feel really bad for him and have been trying to get him to go have a beer or two with me for like two weeks, funny how when we finally do I'm the one that got hammered, but thats besides the point. The problem is Brett is very paranoid and obsesses about things to the point where you want to knock him unconscious just to shut him up. But I guess he's got a right to complain. Poor bastard.

Alright, back to work on a wonderful Monday morning.
