Walk This Way

April 28, 2007

So I got back from the Boston area on Thursday afternoon, and I have to admit, it was a great trip. I had a really good time, it was extremely informative and an all around great experience. Can't wait to do it again!

Plans for this weekend? I'm going to see Spamalot with Missy tonight. I got her tickets for her 30th birthday, which was last weekend, and we're going tonight. Sunday morning we're participating in the March of Dime's Walk America thing in Central Park. I raised a little over $500 so far, so I'm quite proud of myself! It should be fun, and Sunday is also her dad's birthday, so all around, good stuff.

Sorry this is a little light on content, not much going on really. Keep on trucking!

More Than A Feeling

April 23, 2007

When I hear that old something... More than a feeling!

I only pick that one because its the only song I know by Boston, a city that I am currently about 30 miles outside of. I'm like in the middle of nowhere in a suburb way way way outside of Boston. I guess you could get the same thing 30 miles outside of NYC, where, I have no idea, but anything is possible.

Anyway, I'm currently at a training class for a product my company sells, so since it falls within my scope of expertise, I'm here learning the ins and outs of it. I'll help present it to customers, implement it with them and support it. So its all worth while. At least my company thinks so, since they sent me here on their dime. I'm in a pretty nice hotel to boot. I've been taking advantage of the gym here, hitting the elliptical three times in the past two days. I hope to carry on that tradition when I go home. It'll be nice to keep it going.

Tomorrow night, after class I'll be heading back into the city to go to the Red Sox game. That should be an interesting experience. Wednesday night the Rangers start their second round series against the Buffalo Sabres, so I'll have to find a place to watch that game, since my in-room TV at the hotel is kind of limited in what channels it gets. I asked the guy at the hotel bar about it and he said he wishes they got it. Then asked who I wanted to watch, when I said the New York Rangers and apologized for wanting to watch a New York sports team, he said its OK, as long as its not New York baseball. He then proceeded to ask me if NY still had another baseball team besides the Mets? Ha ha. Boston Red Sox humor.

I'm out of here on Thursday after class and back to LI. Should be an interesting couple of days. Has been so far.

Alright, back to relaxing in my room and watching TV. Big day tomorrow!

Too Much

April 16, 2007

I eat too much, I drink too much! Too much!

Thank you Dave Matthews Band.

This statement has been pretty true for the past couple of weeks. But no more! I know I've said this a few times already, too many to count, but I'm getting back on the wagon and going to control the eating and get back into the swing of exercising. I can feel some of my jeans and t-shirts getting a little too tight for my comfort, so I think that is last straw for me. Its going to be a little tough with Missy's birthday coming up this weekend, and after that I'm heading to Boston for training for the week. But I can do it! I did it once before, I shall do it again!

Other than that, nothing really new to report. I had a really good weekend. I passed my IBM certification test on Friday and went to my parents on Friday night. Missy came over and we went out to dinner, although I was pretty tired and not in the best mood. It happens. I had to wake up crazy early on Saturday to bring my car down to VW to get it fixed really quick. I then proceeded to have the worlds best nap ever. I passed out on the couch at my parents for about three hours, and damn, did it feel good. I needed it, thats for sure. My only complaint was that my pooch, my Keyser, man's best friend, wouldn't join me. The son of a bitch (I mean it in the literal sense) wanted nothing to do with me and instead decided to nap in his bed in the sunlight. I can forgive him for it, this time!

Saturday afternoon I headed home and watched the Ranger game. They won their second game against Atlanta in the playoffs to take a 2-0 lead in their best of seven series. The series resumes for two games at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday and Wednesday. If they win both they'll sweep the series and advance to the next round. Sweet! Let's go Rangers!!

After the game, Seth, Shari, Missy, myself, Brett and his girlfriend (I don't know how to spell her name, sorry. Its pronounced like A-not) went out to dinner in Long Beach, where Brett lives. We went to this really good Cajun/Asian/fusion place and had one hell of a meal. It came to about $100 per couple, but it was well worth it. So good! That was a lot of fun and we definitely need to all get together again soon. Its funny though, and someone realized this last night. All three of the guys are 28, we were all born in 1978. All of the girls are either 30, or will be very soon, and they were all born in 1977. Seth is the oldest of the guys, and Shari is the oldest of the girls. I'm the middle of the guys and Missy is the middle of the girls, and obviously Brett and his girlfriend are the youngest of the respective gender groups. Weird, huh?

Saturday night I spent the night at Missy's and we spent all of Sunday being lazy together. We went to her parents for dinner that night and when we were deciding what to bring for dessert I made the suggestion of a recipe for rum cake that my mom had, courtesy of her aunt. So we got the ingredients and I put my baking skills into use and made one hell of a rum cake. Damn was it good. And simple to make too. Anything involving cake mix is usually easy, you know? Hard to screw up.

After dinner Sunday Missy dropped me off at home and Seth, Shari, Rob and myself watched the Sopranos and Entourage together. All in all, a very good weekend. This Friday night is Missy's birthday and I leave to drive up to Boston on Sunday morning. I'll be in beantown until Thursday for a training class for work, but I'm going to try my best to make it into the city to have some fun. I got a ticket for a game at Fenway, so that should be cool.

Alright, back to work. Peace out everyone!

Sweetness

April 12, 2007

If you're listening.... whoa-oa-oa-oa-oa....

Great Jimmy Eat World song.

With one week almost over and a weekend almost upon us again, things are going pretty sweetly. Had an awesome weekend last weekend. I had Friday off after the most boring week of my life. I spent most of the day with Missy as she had just gotten back from North Carolina the night before. I also made the call to trade in my Game Cube, XBox and PlayStation 2 in, along with a ton of games and use that towards and XBox 360. So, basically my weekend was full of Xbox, watching hockey and hanging out with my girlfriend. Can life really get much better? I say no. The only thing that sucked was that I had to work on Saturday, but the OT will be nice, and probably pay for my 360, so its all good.

Other than that, nothing to report. No big plans this weekend, just more of the same.

Bore Me

April 3, 2007

Song title courtesy of a Stone Gossard solo album. Who is Stone Gossard you ask? For shame! One of the amazing guitarists in Pearl Jam. Enough said.

I am having the most boring week of work, ever! I'm at a customer in Westchester county filling in for a few of their network admins that are on vacation. I haven't done a damn thing, for two days straight. I did some research, but thats about it. I have two more days of this. I hope I make it. It wouldn't be so bad if the commute didn't suck. Its about 60 miles each way, plus tolls over the bridge. I get reimbursed for it all and then some, but it still sucks to sit in my car for 3 hours a day, stuck in traffic.

Anyway, back to the Ranger game. They win tonight and they're in the playoffs!

LETS GO RANGERS!!!

All By Myself

April 1, 2007

For the next few days at least. Missy left with her parents early this morning to spend the Jewish holiday of Passover with relatives of hers in North Carolina. So, I am now about to spend the next few days girlfriend-less. I mean, we've gone days without seeing each other before, so I don't think it'll be a big deal. Plus, absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?

Aside from that, life is chugging along like normal. I didn't diet or exercise at all last week, so we're back at square one for this week! Work and everything was just too crazy and exhausting last week for any of that stuff. I had a busy week of work last week, which consisted of doing a lot of lifting and mounting of very heavy computer equipment into racks at NYPD headquarters. After three days of that, I was shot! And, I'll be out of the office all next week at a customer, helping them out while a few of their employees are on vacation. Should be interesting, and I am looking forward to it, just not the drive to Westchester everyday. Other than that, work is really great. I'm really enjoying my new job more and more, especially that now I'm out actually doing things, instead of just in the back putting together servers and loading images onto laptops and desktops. It was definitely a good move for me, and I couldn't be happier.

Lets see, in other news, Missy and I went to a wedding last night. One of her fellow second grade teachers got married, so the reception was last night. It was nice, and I had fun, and the food was good. I definitely took some notes for suggestions to give my brother for his upcoming nuptials. One, they must have Guinness as a choice of beer at the reception. I texted him that last night, and Beth, his fiance, said no way. Then I replied that I would mention something in my speech that she wanted me to leave out (how they met, which was through the internet, JDate actually, a dating websites for Jewish people) and she replied, Guinness it is then! Two, last night the bride's father played two songs with the band on guitar, as he just started taking lessons about a year ago, so I think if I could do that, it would be cool. Three, they must have an ice cream sundae bar for dessert, because that was so good. Lastly, I took notes on the best men (there were two) and maid of honor speeches, and decided they were crap! For one thing, I'm not going to read it off a sheet of paper. I'm committing that sumbitch to memory. And, I'm also going to be funny! As well as a little bit of sappy and sentimental, but in a funny way. And I need to learn how to dance better. Thankfully I'll have Seth and Shari's wedding to practice at first!

Alright, thats enough babbling for now. Time to go enjoy the rest of my weekend, while I still have some left. I had to work for about 5 hours yesterday, so its felt less like a weekend than normal.

Peace out everyone!
