Alive With The Glory Of Love
October 31, 2007
I take the title by the song from the band Say Anything, not the suck ass theme song from the Karate Kid 2 by Peter Cetera. Good song. Featured during the season finale of Scrubs last season, just as JD and Elliot were about to hook up.
Anyway, I'm still alive. I know I've been horrible with blogging lately, but life is getting in the way in a major way. Work is crazy, but in a very good way. I haven't really had the chance to spend too much time with Missy lately, other than the weekends either. We did make progress with wedding plans by booking our florist over the weekend, so thats one less thing.
In major news, it was my older brother Randy's bachelor party over the weekend, and it was crazy to say the least. I won't go into too many details, because it violates guy code. Lets just list the following keywords as examples of what went on:
Beer, shots, chicken fingers, pretzels, beer, shots, hockey, Madison Square Garden, beer, "SIR!", VIPs, alcohol, midgets, strippers, more chicken fingers, angel... and oh yeah, money, because I spent a whole lot of it last weekend!
But it was a good time, and my brother thoroughly enjoyed himself. He had a blast, in his own words. I didn't get to bed until about 4 AM that morning, and was exhausted for most of Sunday. That would've been OK, except for the fact that Missy and I were invited to my best friends Brett's engagement party at his fiance's house. That was an interesting experience too. He's marrying an Israeli, so it was definitely a bit of culture shock, but we had a good time, so its all good.
The only downside to all of this excitement is that I am now sick. Like, really sick. I went to the doctor yesterday and after getting some blood drawn I was told that I have a viral infection and a bacterial infection. A double whammy! I have to say, that when I do something, I try to do it right! I would've taken off of work, but I've just been too busy to really afford to take the time off. Sucks, huh? Oh well. Hopefully I can relax this weekend and kick this thing. My brother gets married in a week and a half, and I need alcohol at that thing in order to get up in front of all those people and make a speech. I don't know how people do that.
Anyway, time to relax and try to kick my multiple infections.
Peace.
White Wedding
October 22, 2007
It's a nice day for a... White Wedding!
I have to say, the weather yesterday couldn't have been more perfect. It was unseasonably warm for October on Long Island. The temperature was well in the 70's, possibly approaching the 80's. Seth and Shari couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day, weather wise, to get married. And all in all, it was a very beautiful day.
I must admit though, it was a little weird to see the first of my friends get married. Technically, they were close to being married anyway. They've been together for almost 4 years, lived together for the past year, and just bought a house in July. But I guess taking that official plunge is where its all at. And it really was a great thing to witness and be a part of. Over the summer, as I was on my way out the door to Missy's, Seth stopped me in the kitchen to have a guy chat. He basically said that if they had gone the route of the traditional wedding with a wedding party that I would have definitely been a part of it. But they decided to keep it small, they just had Seth's brother as the best man, and Shari's brother as the man of honor. Seth said that since we've been friends for so long, they still wanted to find a way to honor me, so they asked me to sign their Ketubah, which is basically a document that says that they're officially married under Jewish law. Although I had to learn how to sign my name in Hebrew, it was still a cool thing to do. It'll be on display in their home for the rest of their lives, with my name signed on it, albeit in what looks like chicken scratch. But it was really cool, nonetheless.
The rest of the party was a lot of fun too. In classic Seth fashion, they made their grand entrance into the ballroom to the Who's "Baba O'Riley," you know, teenage wasteland! Too bad Missy won't let me do something like that. I wanted to do Highway to Hell, or Whole Lotta Love, or something like that. Oh well. Missy and I had a fantastic time, and now I'm actually looking forward to my brother's wedding in three weeks. Why, I don't know! Maybe just because its a party.
Anyway, thats about all for now. The busy just doesn't stop.
Rockin' In The Free World
October 13, 2007
Neil Young. Covered many a time live in concert by Pearl Jam. Greatest MTV Video Music Award moment ever? Pearl Jam playing that tune with Neil Young. I still have the video file of that on my laptop to watch every so often because it rocks so hard.
So, as for the title, that is me this weekend. I am a free man. Missy went upstate to spend the weekend with a few friends of hers, so I am free to do whatever I want. I have no plans, other than relax and catch up with all the TV thats on my DVR, and its a lot. Tomorrow I may spend the afternoon with Seth, watching football and drinking beer. Sounds pretty good to me!
Its been crazy busy at work. Part of my new responsibilities means I'm taking over as one of the main storage engineers in my company. Basically I deal a lot with very big and numerous hard drives. A customer has just ordered 30 or so of these high end storage systems, so I'm working on getting everything configured and such for them before we ship them out. Along with that, I have a lot of customers that I've been going to for storage related things, which is great, because for some reason I really enjoy working on these systems.
So thats whats been up with me. Next weekend is Seth and Shari's wedding, the weekend after that is Randy's bachelor party, and then two weeks after that, Randy and Beth's wedding, which can't come and go soon enough!
And thats about all that I have to talk about. See ya!
The Middle
October 6, 2007
Don't you know it takes some time, little girl you're in the middle of the ride, everything, everything will be just fine...
Title courtesy of Jimmy Eat World. Great band. They're playing NYC the night before my brother's wedding, so obviously I can't go, which really upsets me. But anyway.
I'm in the middle of a pretty decent weekend. Missy and I went out to dinner at John Harvard's last night, because its pumpkin spice ale season, and I had to enjoy some while its around for the next few months. After dinner we went back to my house to catch up on some TV on my DVR. We woke up in the morning and went to spinning class. We both had an excellent workout, and afterwards we went our separate ways for the afternoon. I had to go to physical therapy and then take Keyser to the vet for a quick booster shot. After that I ran out to Best Buy, and since then I've been catching up on my DVR and playing a little Halo on my XBox 360.
Tonight I'm heading over to Missy's for a quiet evening that will consist of watching the Ranger game, and very little else. I'm not sure what's in store for tomorrow, other than I have to get a suit for Seth and Shari's wedding, which is in two weeks. That's a little crazy if you ask me. My best friend, the first of my best friends is getting married in two weeks. That's nuts. Anyway...
Thats about all on the news front for me. Catch ya later!
Alive
October 3, 2007
Oh I... Oh I'm still alive!
To quote the best rock band ever, Pearl Jam, I am still alive.
Sorry for the long absence. Life has a way of taking over and allowing you no free time whatsoever. Work has been especially busy. With my increased responsibilities I find myself out at customers more often, which is both good and bad. Good that I'm out earning and learning and providing a service, but bad because it means I'm mostly in the city and those days are long, and exhausting. But, it pays the bills, so I can't complain too much. But I think I'm holding my own so far with all the added responsibilities I have since my co-worker left at the beginning of September.
On the personal front everything i good as well. Missy and I haven't done too much else as far as wedding planning goes. We really just need to tackle flowers and hotels for out of town guests, and thats it! Right now we're just focusing on getting through with Beth and Randy's wedding. I really can't wait for that to be over so my family can stop being crazy about it. You have no idea just how much stupid shit has transpired because of this wedding, and probably because I got engaged before their wedding was over. Its too much to go through. One day, soon, I promise. Everyone loves good wedding drama, right?
So, thats about it. I'll try to be better about posting. I swear.
Enjoy!
