Heartbreaker

April 16, 2008

Title courtesy of Led Zeppelin off their second full length LP. Great album, great song, amazing band. I think II is definitely my favorite Zep album. You got Whole Lotta Love, Thank You, What Is And What Should Never Be and one of my all time favorites, Ramble On.

Anyway, sorry for the absence in blogging. I've been so damn busy lately, I barely have time to play the guitar, which means its serious. I was going to blog about something kind of important that went down last week, but I think I will save that particular rant for a later, more appropriate day. And its good too. I just think now is not the time to mention it.

So, where was I? Oh yeah, so the title of the post. I bought myself, finally, after months of hearing about how great they were to help monitor your workouts, a heart rate monitor, the Polar F6. It is the coolest thing in the world. The chest strap is annoying to wear, especially when you sweat like a beast, which I tend to do. But the tracking of the heart rate, and more importantly the calories, is key. I tried it out Monday night while at a spin class and it said that I burned something like 1100 calories. I had a hard time believing that number though. I checked with one of the spin instructors, he initially suggested getting one, and he said that they're pretty accurate. I went to a spin class with it the next morning and got about 970 calories, which isn't too bad for working out at 6 AM in the morning. I used it for the elliptical too, but I guess thats not a high intensity workout, as compared to spinning.

An even cooler thing is that I can send data from the watch to my computer and it uploads it to a profile I set up on their website. So I can view my workouts and my progress. I had a similar thing with the Nike Plus thing that goes with your iPod, but thats only for running. This is so much better. So I'll be spinning with it again tonight, and tomorrow, maybe once in the morning but definitely in the evening, and maybe a double spin on Saturday. Its such great exercise, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Other than that, everything keeps chugging along. Wedding stuff is basically a constant lately. A few weeks ago it was invitations, then we had to find a calligrapher. We're almost done paying for the honeymoon, or should I say, Missy is almost done paying for our honeymoon. But hey, according to her, its all going to be our money soon anyway. Next weekend we're going into New York City to the jeweler to pick out wedding bands. We've finalized invite lists and invitation counts. All fun stuff. We're also meeting with the Rabbi on Sunday after temple gets done. That should be fun too, he's a cool guy. That's about all on that front. Its an ongoing thing that I wish wasn't. I just wish it was here already and I can go on the honeymoon already! I can't wait for that.

That is all. Carry on.

Sick, Sick, Sick

April 5, 2008

Title courtesy of Queens of the Stoneage. Awesome band.

Yeah, so as the title suggests, thats about how I'm feeling physically at the moment. Yesterday at work we went to this awesome wings place for lunch, and I proceeded to fill up on boneless chicken wings with the spiciest Buffalo sauce they have and spent most of last night and this morning paying for it. They call the sauce Afterburner for a reason! But, to compound that pain, yesterday afternoon I started to get a slightly sore throat. That transformed into a general cold this morning, or maybe a slight sinus infection. I can't tell yet and didn't get a chance to run to the doctor this morning like I would've preferred. Oh well. Maybe I'll get down there on Monday, depending on how I feel.

So the plan of attack is to relax this weekend and try to feel better. I actually went to the gym this morning for spin, despite how I was feeling, and exercising actually made me feel much better. But that wore off, sadly.

And that's about it. Missy went this morning and booked the restaurant we're going to use for our pseudo rehearsal dinner. We just have to get at least 50 people to attend that. I'm not worried about that, really. Between her family and mine, and friends from out of town, we'll easily get to 50. That's another thing off the list! Next up, I think we're going to get pick out our wedding bands, and that'll be a whole group, family effort. I think the weekend after Passover, so in three weeks, we'll go. I'm looking forward to that. I already know the ring I want, so that shouldn't be a problem. And it'll be one less thing to do!

Alright, time to rest my sick head. Adios party people. Have a great weekend!

The Big Three Killed My Baby

April 3, 2008

Title courtesy of the White Stripes off of one their albums made before they really broke big with the White Blood Cells LP and "Fell In Love With A Girl."

I am about to attempt something that I have never tried before. I'm curious if I'll even be able to do it, or how I'll feel once I'm done. I'm going to try to do three spin classes today. I took one this morning at 6 AM before I headed to a customer in New Jersey (which took my 3.5 hours to get there, two hours or so back, and I only spent two hours there. You do the math) and I'm home early enough to attempt back-to-back classes tonight. I've done the double before and survived, three times. Once it was back-to-back, and the other two it was go, wait an hour or so, then go again. We'll see what happens. Missy is joining me for the later class tonight and naturally she's worried that I'll kill myself or get crazy dehydrated. No worries. I've been drinking a ton of water all day and I drink a ton of it during class, and I will in between as well. I have no fear, except for my legs crapping out on me. But we shall see.

That is all for now.
