Big Bang Baby

July 27, 2009

Title courtesy of Stone Temple Pilots.

So, Buffalo kind of sucked. The work didn't go as well as expected. I had to push my flight back, only to have to push it forward again when I actually got out of there at a decent time. But, I made it out OK, so no complaints. I was just a little upset that I never had the chance to get decent wings while I was there. I was really hoping for good wings!

The rest of the weekend was good. Friday night we had a Nintendo Wii night with some friends at their place. Saturday Missy was in the city, so I passed out on the couch watching Watchmen on Blu Ray. Sunday we had some friends over for brunch, which was a ton of fun.

Sorry there isn't more, but for something interesting and excited check out this site!

Adios for now!

I Cut Like A Buffalo

July 22, 2009

Title courtesy of The Dead Weather, the new band with Jack White of The White Stripes. They're pretty good. I was supposed to see them last weekend in the city, but I wussed out and didn't go. Missy was away for the weekend, visiting her grandparents in Florida and I was all by my lonesome, but after a full week of work, including another trip up to Massachussets and back the next day, I was exhausted. I chose to go to my parents instead (they had just gotten back from Bermuda and I hadn't seen them in a week and a half. By the time I got back home, I was in bed and passed out by 10:15, probably when the band had just taken the stage. So it worked out well.

Anyway, I was all by myself last weekend, and bored to tears during my time alone. I went out to my parents on Friday, to have dinner with them and deliver their copy of our wedding album, which we had picked up earlier in the week (it came out awesome, in case you were wondering). Saturday I called up my mom in the evening, complaining that I didn't know what to do with myself, so my little brother came over and we went out to dinner. Sunday I spent the day at my parents, where my cousin from Israel came over with his wife and their new baby, Ori. The boy is so damn cute!

Ori

So that was the weekend. This week has been pretty busy, and I'm actually heading up to Buffalo for two days tomorrow morning for work. I leave Thursday morning and 8 AM, and will be back sometime Friday afternoon. Should be an easy work trip, which is nice. I like easy, easy like Sunday morning!

We also finally go our spare room fixed and painted so it no longer looks like hell spawn lived in that room and prayed to the devil cat painted on the wall! It came out awesome. It went from this:

Before

To this:

After

Crazy, right? We're very happy with the results. Now, we just need to put up some closet doors and throw down some new carpet and we're ready to rock!

Alright, enough for now... peace you good party people!

Help!

July 8, 2009

Title courtesy of the Beatles. I was browsing the Internet earlier and saw some trailers for their upcoming Rock Band video game, and it looks cool. I'm a fan of all things Rock Band, and the Beatles as well, so I'll definitely be trying to get my hands on the game when it comes out in September. Missy would get a kick out of it too, as she loves the Beatles.

So, two posts in two days, I'm just as shocked as you are. It's a little slow at work, so I actually have a little time to write down my thoughts and such, so I figured I'd share.

The title suggests just what I'm going to need tomorrow. I have to take a Cisco certification test for work tomorrow and I don't have the highest hopes for myself. Mostly because I've never taken a Cisco test before and I've heard that they're really hard, and also because I don't work with their stuff too often, and I've never had formal training on them to boot. Just mix that all together and you'll understand the cry for help. But, who knows. I've never failed a certification test yet, so maybe the streak will continue. Cough cough, I doubt it, cough....

Other than that just looking forward to the weekend getting here. It'll be a pretty typical weekend. We're meeting a friend or two of Missy's for dinner on Friday. Saturday will be the usual guitar lesson and then I'm going to Randy's to help him paint the room that will eventually become his babies nursery. That is going to be an adventure, I'm sure. My brother and I doing manual labor together in his house. I see a paint fight in my future. Just putting it out there. After that I have a graduation party to go to with Missy at friends of her parents who actually live out by my parents. Then Sunday.... there are no plans... which is just what I like.

So, until next time, keep on keeping on... Peace!

1000 Julys

July 7, 2009

Title courtesy of Third Eye Blind. Whatever happened to them? Their first, self titled album was so damn good. Every song was a classic, if you ask me. Their second album, where this song title is from, was pretty bad ass too, and their third, eh, not so much. According to Wikipedia they have a new album coming out sometime in August of 2009. Hopefully it'll bring them back to the mainstream, because I really enjoyed them, while they were around.

So, July is here and in full force. My Fourth of July weekend was pretty damn good, I must admit. I'll give you a breakdown. I had a meeting in the city on Thursday and once I got home, kind of just relaxed at home with Missy. I had off on Friday, the third, and she was off all week because school had let out the week before. She's teaching summer school, but that didn't start up until yesterday, so she had a week's break. We woke up on Friday and got some breakfast at a local diner, then hit up the DMV to get our addresses changed on our licenses. Fifteen minutes of waiting on line to just get a ticket to wait to be served could have been avoided if I just would've printed out the forms online that the guy at the ticket window gave us anyway. Oh well. After that it was onto Best Buy, my favorite!

Back in December Missy cashed out all of her credit card reward points for Best Buy gift cards, almost $400 worth, or more, I forget. It had to be more, because we bought a GPS, Wii Fit and a bunch of other stuff with it, and still had $240 left over on Friday. Anyway, we used that to get a bunch of Disney, Pixar and Dreamworks animated movies on Blu Ray. Missy's reasoning is that Disney will release one of their flicks for a limited time, and then throw it back in their vault for a decade, never to be seen again. She figured we should pick up as many as we could now, before they went away, in the event that there are children in our house that want to watch them, whether they are our children, or other's. So we picked up Sleeping Beauty, Pinnochio, Cars, A Bug's Life, Ratatouille, Bolt, Madagascar and Madagascar 2. Not bad. We went home and popped on Cars and Ratatouille (which both of us had never seen, we'd seen Cars). A relaxing Friday afternoon. Later that night, Mark, Randy and Beth met us at our house and we went to Cheeburger Cheeburger, a local burger and milkshake spot which has the best, cheap food in the area.

Saturday was the 4th, I woke up and went to my parents for my guitar lesson. After my lesson I got started preparing my Diet Coke and Mentos fireworks display. I did the same thing last year, but last year was sort of just to prove I could do it. This year was all about doing it bigger and better. So I spent way too much time in my parent's garage with a cordless drill, making various size holes in bottle caps and drilling holes in about 60 Mentos, for use in a dozen bottles of Diet Coke. After the holes were drilled I had to thread a needle and string together five Mentos per bottle cap, to make the cartdridges. Once that was done, I could relax for the rest of the day. A bunch on my parent's friends were there, Missy eventually made it out, along with Brett and his wife Eynat. We had a good meal, and before dessert I set off my "fireworks". My younger brother got video of it, and I put it on You Tube. It was pretty cool. At least I think so.

Sunday we kind of loafed around the house, ran some errands, including going to Bed Bath And Beyond and buying a small Dyson Ball vacuum to replace the crappy vacuum we had. The thing was expensive, but we had enough 20% coupons, store credits, gift cards from our wedding and Amex and Visa gift cards from Missy's students so that we ended up paying only $1.23 for it. Not bad. Once we finally got home I put it together and actually used it, and damn, the amount of dust and crap it kicked up was insane. Gross, actually. I couldn't believe that was sitting in our carpets all this time. Nasty. Later that night we went to Missy's brother's house and had dinner with them, since they just got back from their honeymoon. Then, it was homeward bound and time to start a new week.

Hope everyone else had an awesome Fourth of July!
