I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself

August 28, 2009

Title courtesy of the White Stripes.

It's a fitting title. It's been a very slow few days at work. People are on vacation, or taking their kids to school or who knows what. But keeping my self busy gets very difficult come Friday afternoon sometimes. But, I plow through, or try to.

Also fitting that it's a White Stripes title as I'm hoping to go see my man Jack White, along with Jimmy Page and The Edge in that new documentary "It Might Get Loud" this weekend! I'm a huge fan of all three of them, so seeing them talk about their experiences with the electric guitar as well as watching the jam would be awesome. I nearly have Missy convinced to go. I think I may be able to push her over the edge, since we have absolutely nothing going on at all on Saturday, and it's playing at a local small cinema arts center. I think she might take one for the team on this one. But that means I see a chick flick in my future. Small price to pay for guitar greatness.

Other than that, its been a slow week.

It is my parent's anniversary on Sunday and we're taking them out to eat at the same place we went for our first anniversary meal at the beginning of the month. It was really nice, and I figured it beats going to the same Italian restaurant my parents insist on frequenting all the time. The one annoying thing is my younger brother, who slightly bitched that he better be home from dinner by 9 PM, because he can't miss True Blood. The kid has a DVR in his room, so he's got no case whatsoever. I think we're purposely going to try to stretch it out so he doesn't make it home in time and can't watch it live. Sucks for him!

Alright, I think I've wasted enough time here today. Have a great weekend people!

A Boy Named Sue

August 26, 2009

Title courtesy of Johnny Cash, the Man in Black. Enough said.

I really don't want to jinx this, I guess you could call it a de'tante, in the ongoing struggle for the eternal question that is, "What are you going to name your baby?" Well, that's not the most common question we get. That one is, "Are you going to find out the sex?" To which our reply is "No!" Followed by, "Why not?" It seems that other people are dying to find out what we're having more than we are. We're cool with it being a surprise. So, onto the name questions then.

I think, I hope, that as of this morning we have it finalized. We've had the boy's name for awhile, but the girl's name name was quite elusive to us. After some new details came to light, it ruled out certain options that were quite the sticking point in this name quandary and the choice became that much easier. So, now we have a name for a boy and a name for a girl. One less thing to worry about.

And they are? Oh, hell no! There's no way I'm sharing!

Sorry!

And, don't worry, I would never name a boy Sue!

Backslider

August 18, 2009

Title courtesy of Toadies, not the Toadies... I was corrected last week by Wikipedia... they are not the Toadies, just Toadies. Remember "Possum Kingdom?" Great tune. It's on my to learn list with my guitar teacher. But "Backslider" is just as good a tune too... "Tyler" too... anyway...

After much procrastination and complaints from Missy, I am back on a fitness kick, and just in time too. Things were started to head way south in that department, and I mean way south. But, we're starting to take control of it. Missy can't do as much as she'd like to, being pregnant and all, but she's coming along for moral support, and to at least get some exercise in, every little bit in that arena is supposed to help, so hopefully it will. We're also on the lookout for a new gym. Our old one was really close to our old apartment, but our house is at least 15 minutes or so away, and its just a pain to get there sometimes. I know it sounds like an excuse, but it kind of is. Plus, I think I'm spoiled, my old gym at my parents house was around the corner, like half a mile, seriously. That was convenient! But we're going to look at a few places that are closer to our house now, so hopefully we'll find one, and soon! our membership at Gold's, our old gym is good until mid-September. I doubt it'll take that long to find a new one.

In the meantime, I'm going to seriously try to keep track of what I eat and the exercise I perform, mostly with the help of technology! Isn't it wonderful sometimes? I downloaded an app called Lose-It! that I can use to keep track of what I eat and whether or not its going over the calorie range I need for the day, along with whatever exercise I do and how many calories that burns. I also have a Polar heart rate monitor that I wear to the gym that keeps track of what I burn, and I can upload the data from it to their website and see lovely charts and graphs and whatnot to assist as well. I hope that all that helps make a dent. I realize that all of it is up to me and its just a matter of changing my habits and having some willpower. But I can do it! I got a kid on the way, it would be helpful to be able to keep up with the little tyke when it gets older, you know?

Other than that, nothing really to report. We haven't done anything else with the babies room. We're going to carpet it come September or so, then hang some closet doors, and maybe put up a ceiling fan, but that's about it. We'll go shopping for baby furniture and actually register at some point in September too. Hopefully sometime in the fall my father-in-law and I, and maybe with the help of my brother-in-law can start working on our half bath to start remodeling it. It needs it, desperately. The only other room in the house that really needs demolishing and rebuilding is the kitchen, but that's our project for next year, after the kid comes.

That's about it. Have a great day everyone!

Long Road to Ruin

August 9, 2009

Title courtesy of the Foo Fighters. Great song and a funny video as only the Foo's could do.

I'm currently writing this from my iPhone, so pardon any spelling mistakes or weird phrases. But besides that, it's pretty cool. Turns out blogging, like most anything, there's an app for that!

So it's been a very long and tiring week. It started with last weekend. Missy and I drove down to D.C. / Maryland for Missy's friends wedding. We stayed at her uncles house in Maryland, which was very cool. We had a great time with Missy's family and at the wedding. It was a small wedding, 50 or so people, with a small luncheon at a nice restaurant after the temple ceremony. Only downside was the long drive back and forth that we made Saturday and then again on Sunday.

Also had a very long week of work. Very busy and somewhat stressful. But, it beats the alternative, right?

Throw into the mix that it was also our anniversary this week! It's crazy that it's been a year already! We went out to dinner Monday night at a nice restaurant in town, and went Thursday for dinner at Carlyle on the Green, the place that we got married at. Dinner there was free since it was our anniversary, but something tells us it won't be next year!

Yesterday the family went out for my sister-in-law Beth's birthday, which was nice too, and tonight my friends are coming over. It's the first time we've all gotten together in awhile, so we're celebrating that Missy and I are expecting, along with everything else good that's happened in the past few months.

Alright, that's all for now! Have a great rest of the weekend and an easy week ahead everyone!
